Export or import your Personal Abbreviation List (PAL)

The following instructions apply to TypeWell Transcriber and TypeWell Everywhere (Version 7 and higher). If you're using Version 6 or earlier, please contact us for help locating your PAL file.

To export a PAL

Open the PAL window by pressing Ctrl+A or by going to the Classic/Turbo menu and selecting Personal Abbreviation List.

Next, right-click on the PAL tab/name you wish to export, and select Export PAL.

IMPORTANT: If you have multiple PAL tabs, keep in mind that each tab/list is a separate file. You can only export one tab at a time.

TypeWell will ask you where to save the file. Choose the location you wish to save the file and click "Save."

To import a PAL

Open the PAL window by pressing Ctrl+A or by going to the Classic/Turbo menu and selecting Personal Abbreviation List.

Click on the empty PAL tab, then click the Import PAL button.

The "Import PAL file" dialog box should appear.

Navigate to the file you wish to import, click to highlight that file, and then click Open.

NOTE: If you are importing from an older version of TypeWell, you may need to change the “Files of Type” menu to “All Files.”

After you import the file, TypeWell will prompt you for a PAL title:

Give the PAL a meaningful title, and then click OK.
