If you think the TypeWell system would help your child or student, the first step is to talk with a disability services coordinator or supervisor at the school. That person can then contact us for details about training or hiring qualified transcribers.
There are a few common pathways for schools to begin offering TypeWell services:
- Train a new transcriber. Schools often recruit capable staff or local candidates to complete the TypeWell Basic Skills Course.
- Hire an already-trained transcriber. Graduates may be available in your area.
- Contract with an outside provider. Some schools work with independent service providers or agencies to cover classes until in-house staff can be trained.
The costs of transcription services are normally covered by the school or district as part of its responsibility to provide communication access under laws like ADA, Section 504, or IDEA.
