Overview
The TCP/IP linking feature in the TypeWell Transcriber program is designed to transmit unencoded, raw text data to software programs and devices that can receive plain text data over a TCP/IP port.
Limitations
Importantly, this feature does not facilitate the sending of special commands or structured data based on particular protocols like Control-A or SMPTE-333. Consequently, it is unsuitable for direct integration with closed captioning encoders that rely on these protocols to function correctly.
Enabling TCP/IP Linking
To activate this feature, head to the TypeWell Link menu and select the "By Simple TCP/IP" option.
The TypeWell Link menu is expanded. The option "By Simple TCP/IP" is highlighted in red.
Default Settings
Once activated, the system defaults to the following settings:
TCP/IP address: 127.0.0.1 (the address of the transcriber’s own computer)
Port: 9740
These settings are adjustable to cater to the requirements of the specific application or hardware you are interfacing with.
Customizing Settings
To interface with third-party software or hardware, you may need to modify the TCP/IP address and port to comply with the guidelines provided by the respective manufacturer. It’s recommended to consult the manufacturer's documentation or support resources for detailed instructions.
