I'm aware there's some DNS server problem affecting the TypeWell website(s) today -- February 28 2014. Does that mean I can't use Web Linking for my clients?
Here’s a workaround posted by a member of the TypeWell Transcriber forum (Google Group)
Go into your network and sharing center, then adapter settings, then TCP/IPV4 properties, and click the bubble to "Use the following DNS Server addresses.
Change the preferred DNS server to 188.8.131.52 and the alternate DNS server to 184.108.40.206
These are google’s free DNS servers, and they are still pointing to the typewell website and allow weblinking to work.
I hope this helps!
If you (the transcriber) are able link to the West or East Coast server, but your client or reader (someone in another part of the country) is not able to view the page, then here’s a workaround for the reader:
Let’s say you’re linked to the channel ending in abcdefgh, on the East Coast server. You should tell the reader to go to http://220.127.116.11/abcdefgh (instead of http://east.typewell.com/abcdefgh).
Similarly, for a channel on the West Coast server, just replace west.typewell.com with 18.104.22.168, e.g. http://22.214.171.124/abcdefgh
