I have a question/observation about using Web Browser. I have noticed when I have the reader page up often times text comes up incredibly slowly, sometimes lagging minutes at a time, and suddenly, a large block of text will finally pop up.
I just thought this was something strange with my internet as other transcribers I was working with didn't seem to notice. Now, I have had a few students complain about the same problem.
One client gets especially frustrated with it, and when I typed for a different client the other night, one of the readers noticed it and it became a problem for that person too. Refreshing can sometimes clear it up for a few minutes, but it often eventually starts lagging and freezing again.
This transcriber’s supervisor followed up with TypeWell Support by email: “We figured it out last night. The browser that both the transcriber and the student were using was Firefox. I switched the student to IE and it worked fine. Chrome works well too (I think the transcriber switched to Chrome to view later) but I would advise people to stay away from Firefox as I saw this error a long time ago and I just forgot about it.”
Since this seems to be a Firefox issue, we advise Web Linking users to switch to Chrome or Internet Explorer so that the reader doesn’t experience a lag.
