I have been looking for something like this for years! I'm not deaf or hard of hearing but have physical and learning disabilities. I audio record my notes already but am looking to get them transcribed- can Typewell do this?
Thanks for your message! Are you just looking to have your audio recordings transcribed after class? Or are you needing the classes or meetings to be transcribed in real time (during class)?
Are you a student attending a college or university? If so, have you approached the office for Disability Support Services (for students) to request this type of accommodation?
TypeWell (the company) trains transcribers who provide real-time transcribing services, and we license the software that they use. Many of those transcribers also do “post-production” work, transcribing audio recordings, creating closed captions for videos, etc.
So the answer to your question is yes, this is something that a TypeWell transcriber could do. The next thing is to figure out how this accommodation could be arranged and implemented for your particular situation.
We maintain a list of agencies (companies) that can contract with schools or companies to provide these types of services. TypeWell itself is not a direct service provider, but we are here to help you navigate this process. Please let us know what other questions you have.
